When they initially log in, users see content based on DLM Layout
Fragments. You can adjust the details of a layout fragment --
including the number & nature of the columns -- by editing the
corresponding fragment-layout.xml doc and re-importing.
The structure of this XML doc defines the arrangement of content
on the page. You can see there are 2 <folder name="Column"
...> elements contained in it -- follow this example.
FYI, it's also possible to adjust these columns (in the running
portal) using the "DLM Fragment Administration UI;" but changes
made this way will not survive a portalInit/dataInit nor be
applied to other deployments.

In uPortal5 you can change the layout using the
customize tray. How can I specify a layout to be the default for
all users when they initially log in?
